2024 – the year I intended to take things easy with photo events and instead recharge my energy. How did that go? I still managed four exhibitions, my books earned three awards, and my images picked up four more. Even more unexpected was that I also found time to publish a book!
My book Shinrin-yoku received a gold at PX3 Prix de la photographie Paris, a silver at the Tokyo International Foto Awards, and an Honorable Mention at the International Photography Awards. That brings the total to eight awards for my two photo books, plus 23 awards for the images in them, something I can’t help but feel very proud of!
I didn’t submit images to many competitions this year, yet I still managed to get four Honorable Mentions, at PX3, Monovisions, and London.
Alongside my own exhibitions, where exhibiting at Vadstena Castle Gallery was the highlight, I also featured several exciting guest exhibitors at my own Gallery FOTOverket. For example, it was really fun to combine Sissi Stahli’s warm, vibrant women with my black-and-white images.
A fun surprise this year was an article and cover feature in Ubuntu Magazine, which primarily focuses on conservation and environmental issues.
The most unexpected turn of the year was stepping in at Sjöexpress, a nearby boatyard dedicated to preserving and maintaining classic wooden boats. That quickly led to a collaboration with Anders Værneus, who runs the yard, resulting in a book about the yard’s history and several vintage boats. We launched it on December 16 and have already delivered more than 300 copies! I only contributed a few photos, so it’s not one of my usual photo books. This time, I can mainly take credit for the foreword and for the book’s design and layout. Get your copy in the shop.
What about photography? Of course, I did quite a lot of photo tours, mainly to forests. Here’s some of my favourites!
